Date | November 18, 2017 |
Time | 8:00AM - 10:00pm |
As part of the family enrichment, the Couples For Christ (CFC) Kids Ministry will be conducting a full-day retreat for the family. The CFC Family Ministries aims to target all members of the family, making each one a powerful instrument for evangelization, not only as an individual, but also together with their personal families. With each family member, or each “age group” in the family, focused on evangelization and empowerment, everyone is able to collaborate and share strengths with one another to become a powerful instrument in influencing and touching others with the love of Christ. With each family renewed, there is a bigger possibility of another family also experiencing the beauty of God’s love.
This is open to all families with children ages 4-12 years old (children older than 12 years old are encouraged to participate).
A minimal fee of $50.00 for a family of three(3) is charged to cover meals (Lunch & Dinner) and conference materials. Additional kids 12& under are $10, 13&above at $15.

Session topics are geared to strengthening the family, partnered with workshops to provide practical activities for the family, parents & kids, teaching of action songs and family worship to enliven the experience. This becomes a shared experience among families which creates a support system during the retreat and a strong affirmation of faith within the community of believers.
Session 1: WE ARE FAMILY
This session aims to touch on the basic truth that children are a gift to the parents and that parents are a gift to the kids. God placed the children in their families so they can experience His love and learn how to love others. God has a very beautiful plan for our families.
However, all families are under attack. Spending less time together. Having too many distractions that lead to the weakening of faith. We need to guard our families from these attacks. We stand firm in our faith as a family through prayer. Parents are reminded that they are the primary pastors. Reminding them that a family that prays together, stays together!
Session 2: WE STAND FOR JESUS!
Isaiah 7:9 “If you do not stand firm in faith, you shall not stand at all.”
This session aims to emphasize on strengthening of faith. The home is a place where parents pass on the faith to their children. Jesus must be present in our home! Because where there is Jesus, there is love. The family is called to join daily in prayer, to read the word of God and to share in EucharisticCommunion, and thus to grow in love and become ever more fully a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells. As a ministry, we want to highlight the importance of having a family meal, if not everyday, at least three times a week. As a family, this is our way of allowing Jesus to be present in our family and there is no greater foundation than having Jesus in our families.
Session 3: WE DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE
This session aims to provide directives to the family. As Christian family, it is our first calling to follow Him! This means our family should be full of love because Jesus is love!

Empowering Children in Making Responsible Choices
This workshop focuses on how parents can empower children of the digital age in making responsible choices. We will learn the importance of reinforcing the parent-child relationship and developing a rooted Christianity. We’ll understand how to build a home for children to take refuge in times of outside threats that challenge their self-confidence. And lastly, together we’ll take on the challenge of how to direct children in making wise and healthy decisions. The workshop will be led by Sister Eunice, a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth by vocation and a qualified parent-educator by profession. Sister earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., a certificate in Family Therapy from the Center for Family Learning in Rochelle, New York, and a certificate in Parent-Education from the Parenting Resource and Education Network, Fort Washington, PA.
Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving, Texas will be hosting the year’s events, conveniently located near the Dallas Fort Worth international airport.

MISSION: FORT STOCKTON, TX
The mission started Friday afternoon when the team travelling a long drive of 7 hours in 2 vans and 2 other cars. The rest of the team flew in to Midland Airport. The adventure to serve the Lord is indeed exciting. Meanwhile, Fr. Serafin started the weekend with a Holy Hour and Orientation to prepare the participants for the activities of the weekend. ![]() Everyone gathered in the dining hall for lunch and the discussion group leaders also were able to conduct one-on-one sessions during the lunch break. After lunch, the Second Module Sessions about the Authentic Christian Life truly inspired the participants to live out their faith. The discussion groups again allowed the participants to share their reflections on the sessions. After which, the discussion group leaders again conducted one-to-ones to prepare the participants for the pray over sessions. Meanwhile, the Youths were equally inspired with their own sessions on God’s Love, Who is Jesus Christ, and Repentance and Faith. They were able to encounter the Lord through their group discussions with their fellow youth. | The kids also enjoyed their fun sessions on the same topics as their parents but given through songs, activities and film showing. They diligently practiced the praise songs that were taught to them. Truly God’s kingdom belongs to them. Dinner was served early, and the Session on the Receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit was given and immediately followed by each of the participant being prayed over by their discussion group leaders. It was then followed by an empowering worship with a mix of English and Hispanic songs. The youth also prayed over their fellow youth and ended the sessions with a spirit-filled worship. They ended the night with a bonfire which allowed them to surrender their struggles to the Lord. The group again gathered together for entertainment night with the kids and youths sharing their talents to their parents and glorifying the Lord through their performances. It was a fitting end for a long but spirit filled day. Sunday again started early with everyone back ready to hear the final module of the CLP and the final talks of the camps. Regional Leaders visit Couples For Christ DFW
Everything is BIG in Texas! Big hearts and big love for God that is for CFC Dallas/Forth Worth. This is the dedication of CFC DFW members that we (will) drive long to do our mission work reaching far areas such as , Brownwood, Austin, Fort Stockton, and Oklahoma. A big task as well is at hand as CFC DFW has been chosen to host next year's 2016 CFC Western North American Conference. With these "Texas-sized" responsibilities it was such a perfect time as God allowed us to meet our new Regional Leaders, Nonoy and Marivie Dalman. |
